. There are two common methods for manufacturing aluminum wheels: casting and forging.

Casting involves pouring molten aluminum alloy into a mold to form the entire wheel in one piece. While this method offers advantages such as greater design freedom and the ability to mass-produce at low cost, it requires a certain wall thickness for strength reasons, resulting in a heavier wheel than forging.

Forging, on the other hand, uses a high-pressure press to press the aluminum material into a mold. Due to the nature of this process, the aluminum particles become dense, resulting in a strong and lightweight wheel. However, since the aluminum is crushed and molded, design freedom is limited. Another disadvantage is the cost involved due to the multiple manufacturing steps. The flow forming process adopted by 326POWER combines the benefits of both casting and forging. In flow forming, the disc and rim are first cast. The rim is then spun to the minimum required thickness.

As a result, the density of the aluminum material has increased, achieving a metal flow pattern that approaches that of forged wheels. This has made it possible to create a rim with high strength and rigidity. In addition, the disc surface is cast, ensuring freedom of design. The rim wall thickness can be made thinner, resulting in a lighter weight and contributing to a reduction in unsprung weight.
